Spurs’ Sydney Training Session Thrown Open to The Fans

ENGLISH Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur will hold a FREE open training session at Stadium Australia from 4pm Friday in the countdown to their AIA Cup clash with A-League Grand Finalists Sydney FC.

Spurs have named a powerhouse 23-man squad for the game on Saturday night, with boom striker and EPL Young Player of the Year Harry Kane, Danish midfield wizard Christian Eriksen, French international captain Hugo Lloris, Argentinian star Erik Lamela, and England internationals Kyle Walker, Danny Rose and Ryan Mason all on their way to Sydney.

The Open Training Session is one of a series of fan engagement opportunities on the #SpursInSydney tour, which begins on Thursday when the eight-time FA Cup champions arrive in the harbour city at 11.30am.

More than 70,000 fans are expected to pack into Stadium Australia to see Tottenham Hotspur v Sydney FC on Saturday 30 May (event commencement 7.30pm). Tickets start from $39 for adults; $19 concession. Great seats are still available across all pricing categories.

Details and key timings of the exclusive Tottenham Hotspur Open Training Session at Stadium Australia on Friday 29 May are:

  • 3:30pm – General Public Gates Open – entry via Gate K only
  • 4:00pm – Tottenham Hotspur open training session commences
  • 5:00pm – Tottenham Hotspur open training session concludes
  • 5:30pm – Sydney FC open training session commences
  • 6:30pm – Sydney FC open training session concludes

*As part of Stadium Australia’s standard conditions of entry, patrons attending the Tottenham Hotspur Open Training Session will be subject to a bag check prior to entry to the venue.

The #SpursInSydney tour was instigated by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, in partnership with Stadium Australia. Destination NSW estimates the tour could be worth $8 million to the NSW economy.

There will be merchandise available for purchase both in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct and on the Level 1 concourse inside Stadium Australia, as well as food and beverage available for purchase (no alcohol).

The big game will be telecast live on the Seven Network to an audience of more than one million nationally, and broadcast to millions more throughout Europe. The two teams will play for the AIA Cup, with the leading pan Asian independent life insurance company AIA the official partner of Spurs’ tour to the Asia-Pacific region.

A-League Grand Finalists Sydney FC will also be part of the Open Training Session at Stadium Australia on Friday, kicking off their session immediately following Spurs.

Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold said his squad was looking forward to taking on Tottenham Hotspur at Stadium Australia.

“It is fantastic for football to see a strong English Premier League club such as Tottenham Hotspur playing in Sydney. I’m sure the tens of thousands of fans who attend will enjoy a wonderful event on Saturday night,” Arnold said.
