HE’S one of the true legends of the mighty Arsenal FC club – and he’s on his way to Australia to promote the Gunners’ 2017 #ArsenalinSydney Tour.

Karl Fredrik Ljungberg – universally known across the football world as “Freddie” – played most of his career with the Gunners, making 328 appearances in a glittering 10-year career.

He won eight trophies during his time with Arsenal, including two Premier League titles and three FA Cups trophies, and was a senior member of the Gunners team that went unbeaten for the entire 2004 season.

He was also a Swedish international for a decade, captaining his home nation and earning 75 caps.

Ljungberg, 39, is excited to be making his first visit to Sydney and for his beloved Arsenal club to make its first trip to Australia in 40 years.

“I’m really looking forward to visiting Sydney and it’s my first visit,” Ljungberg said as he boarded the plane in London.

Arsenal will play back-to-back blockbusters at Stadium Australia against Sydney FC (Thursday 13 July 2017) and Western Sydney Wanderers (Saturday 15 July 2017.

Ljungberg, 39, will promote the 2017 Arsenal In Sydney Tour, and meet and greet Arsenal Australia Club supporters and football fans generally.

The Arsenal great will also take in the sights of Sydney and surrounds, helping to promote Sydney on the world stage as part of an 18-month strategic tourism and sporting partnership between Destination NSW and Arsenal FC.

Arsenal will bring their EPL “fan experience” with them to Sydney, with Arsenal supporters to be seated in the North Bank (the northern stands of Stadium Australia), just as they are at Emirates Stadium. There will be Arsenal themed bars & supporter areas.

Passionate Sydney FC and Wanderers fans will sit at The Clock End (southern end of Stadium Australia) and will bring their own fan club experience to the blockbusters.

At the request of the Sydney clubs – and to ensure as many football supporters are able to attend one or both matches – ticket prices have been kept affordable. Family tickets of four are available from $99 and more than 50 per cent of all tickets priced are under $99. Junior tickets (aged 4-16) are from $29.

Such is the worldwide appeal of Arsenal, ticket allocations could be exhausted within hours.
