THE Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues have trained for the first time at their purpose-built training field in the shadows of Stadium Australia as the seven day countdown starts for the 2018 Holden State of Origin series.

The training field is part of the $20 million NSWRL Centre of Excellence which will be the most cutting-edge sporting centre of its kind when it is fully functioning in January 2019.

As Coach Brad Fittler christened the full-length field by putting his players through their paces at Sydney Olympic Park, he said the Blues would be representing New South Welshmen from Bega to Boggabri, Cobar to Coogee and everywhere in between, interstate and overseas.

The Centre of Excellence will be home to the NSWRL, Country Rugby League, KARI, University of New England (UNE) and the Men of League Foundation.

The NSWRL has already moved its administration offices from Moore Park to its new base in Greater Sydney, with the Centre of Excellence to also include a state-of-the-art gymnasium, hydrotherapy and rehabilitation rooms, and other specialized support facilities.

The State of Origin series opens with Game I at the MCG on Wednesday, with a historic stand-alone Origin II weekend on Sunday 24 June at Stadium Australia and Game III in Brisbane 11 July.
