ANZ STADIUM’S ties with the community have strengthened following the recent formation of a new partnership with local western Sydney charity Northcott.
Northcott – a leading service provider for people with disabilities in NSW – offers over 100 innovative and dynamic programs and services to those living with a broad range of disabilities and their families and carers.
Dedicated to promoting a genuinely inclusive society, Northcott shares Stadium Australia’s vision to make a positive difference to the community and a commitment to the health and wellbeing of young Australians – all of which are strongly demonstrated through the not-for-profit organisation’s Recreation Service.
“For people with disabilities, the support and services Northcott provides can often mean the difference between a life of isolation and segregation and a life of greater self-reliance and confidence,” said Northcott CEO, Kerry Stubbs.
“Northcott’s Recreation Service provides hundreds of children and adults living with a physical disability the opportunity to participate in sporting and recreation-based activities of their choice.
“Our clients have been attending events at Stadium Australia as part of our Recreation Service for years, so we are thrilled to be partnering with the Stadium; it’s a truly natural fit.
“The Stadium’s generosity in supplying our clients with event tickets ensures they are given the opportunity to enjoy the inclusiveness of participating in the sporting community and will significantly reduce the costs associated with implementing the program.”
The Stadium will also offer its unique physical spaces for Northcott’s Skills for Wheelies clinics – which teach first-time wheelchair users important skills – as well a location for an annual Adaptive Cricket Game.
Stadium Australia will also continue its long-standing relationship with the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and will provide support to a host of charities throughout 2013, including the George Gregan Foundation, Steve Waugh Foundation, Pillars of Strength and Special Olympics.
