THREE games, three codes . . . one massive Easter sporting week at Stadium Australia.
And the good news is – all event tickets include return travel on public transport with direct trains to Sydney Olympic Park and Major Event Buses running on 11 routes across Sydney.
The three blockbuster football fixtures across three codes will coincide with the Royal Easter Show giving Sydneysiders a sporting Easter to remember.
The Easter week is the first of the monster sporting weeks at Stadium Australia this year:
- Tuesday 26 March – Socceroos v Oman: The Socceroos secured a vital 2-2 draw against Oman at Stadium Australia on Tuesday night and remain in second spot in their World Cup qualifying group (pending other results). With the race for second place heating up, the Socceroos remain focused on qualifying for a third consecutive World Cup finals in Brazil 2014.
- Thursday 28 March – Sports Minister, Graham Annesley will open Stadium Australia’s brand new cricket and warm-up facility outside gate L on the western side of the stadium at 1pm (open to the public). Stars from all four football codes and cricket will be on hand to unveil the $2 million facility.
- Good Friday 29 March – Canterbury Bulldogs v South Sydney Rabbitohs: Stadium Australia home teams the Bulldogs and the Rabbitohs battle for home ground supremacy in an Easter showdown. Last time they met there were 71,000 fans at last year’s preliminary final blockbuster. For tickets, click here.
- Easter Saturday 30 March – GWS Giants v Sydney Swans: The giants have already beaten the Swans this year in a pre-season match, they will now look to beat the reigning premiers and cross-town rivals for the first time in the season proper. After taking small steps in their inaugural season GWS will look to make giant strides in 2013. GWS youngsters Callan Ward, Tom Scully and no 1 draft pick Lachie Whitfield will test their credentials against seasoned campaigners Jude Bolton and Adam Goodes. Fans are encouraged to leave the car at home and take advantage of the additional and direct public transport services available for all events.
CityRail will operate regular and direct services between Central and Olympic Park, along with connecting services between Lidcombe and Olympic Park stations.
Sydney Olympic Park Major Bus services are operating on 11 major bus routes across Sydney.
Sydney Buses will also operate to a regular weekend timetable. Route 525 operates between Parramatta and Burwood via Sydney Olympic Park.
