POP prince Ed Sheeran has officially smashed the Australasian record for largest number of stadium shows in a single tour by adding a number of additional tour dates including a third show at Stadium Australia on Thursday 15 March, 2018.

The announcement comes off the back of Ed selling more than 710,000 tickets by the conclusion of the first day of general public on-sale.  With these newly announced shows he will surpass Dire Straits’ long standing record of an estimated 900,000 ticket sales from their 1986 Brothers In Arms tour.

The original seven announced stadium dates quickly increased to fourteen this week, equalling AC/DC’s 2010 record.  Now, with the addition of four more stadium shows in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Dunedin, Ed Sheeran has lifted the bar higher than ever before.

Ed’s love of Australia and New Zealand has been reciprocated with hundreds of thousands of fans snapping up the entire pre-sale allocations for his first Stadium Australia date with his second show selling out in just a couple of hours.

Ed Sheeran said today “I’ve always loved coming to Australia and New Zealand. So many amazing musicians have toured there and I am humbled to have broken these records.”

Michael Gudinski, head of Frontier Touring said “This is now not only the biggest tour Frontier has promoted, but it’s the biggest tour in Australian and New Zealand touring history!”

Tickets to Ed’s third and final show at Stadium Australia will go on sale to the general public at 2pm AEST, Thursday 1 June via Ticketek.

Touring in celebration of his record-breaking and chart-topping third studio album ÷ (pronounced ‘divide’, out now through Warner Music), Sheeran will perform completely unaccompanied, joined on stage by just a guitar and effect pedals. The pull of this one-man band is an incredible experience to witness; layers of harmonies, rhythms and guitar parts cast out to a crowd of thousands who sing every lyric straight back to Sheeran.

From theatres to stadiums, Sheeran has sold out every single show on his four tours of our shores and the ÷ World Tour is sure to follow suit. Act quick to secure yours or check out our Premium Hospitality options which are available now! Enquire here.
