FRESH from selling four million copies worldwide of her latest album 1989, the world’s hottest pop star, Taylor Swift, is heading down under in 2015 and has confirmed her one-and-only Sydney concert will be at Stadium Australia on Saturday 28 November, including special guest Vance Joy.
With over 30 million albums sold and seven Grammy Awards to her name, Tay Swift is the only artist in history to have three albums debut with more than a million copies sold in their first week, with 1989 joining fellow multi-platinum selling albums Speak Now (2010) and Red (2012). Her 1989 album became Australia’s fastest-selling album of 2014 in less than four days.
Lead single ‘Shake It Off’ and its successor ‘Blank Space’ have also earned T-Swizzle the dual achievements of being the only artist to have two #1 singles in the HOT 100 US charts in 2014.
At the 2014 American Music Awards, Taylor became the first ever recipient of the Dick Clark Award for Excellence, given to an artist who achieves a ground breaking feat or creates a landmark work. This prestigious recognition honoured her as the only artist to ever sell over 1 million albums release week for her albums Speak Now, RED and 1989.
In further exciting news, Melbourne born indie-pop performer Vance Joy will not only join Taylor on the North American leg of her 1989 World Tour, but will also open for her at Stadium Australia. The Riptide singer released his debut album, Dream Your Life Away, in September.
Taylor’s 1989 World Tour is the second major concert coup for Stadium Australia in 2015, with rock legends, the Foo Fighters, bringing their Sonic Highways World Tour to the Stadium on Thursday 26 February 2015.
These two blockbuster concerts are yet more jewels in the crown of a fantastic 2015 event calendar taking shape at Stadium Australia, including the AFC Asian Cup (9-31 Jan), the opening game of the State of Origin series, the Bledisloe Cup Test, NRL Grand Final, two key Waratahs Super Rugby games, more than 20 NRL club games and three Swans regular-season games.
Standby for more exciting announcements at Stadium Australia, and in the meantime, don’t miss the chance to see the biggest superstar in the world at the top of her game on the The 1989 World Tour.
