A SPECTACULAR Sydney Derby 10 days before Christmas and three school holiday blockbusters in the first week of January will be among nine Western Sydney Wanderers home games at Stadium Australia in the 2018/19 Hyundai A-League season.

The draw was officially released today, with the season kicking off on Friday 19 October as Adelaide United host Sydney FC in the opening match at Coopers Stadium, with the Wanderers playing against Perth Glory at nib Stadium on Sunday 21 October.

This opening game will pit former Wanderers favourite son Brendon Santalab against his old club.

The Wanderers play their first four matches away from Sydney including the club’s Community Round fixture in Round 4 against Brisbane Roar at Glen Willow Regional Sports Stadium in Mudgee on Saturday 10 November.

The Red & Black will play 13 home games in Sydney Olympic Park this season while their new home base of Western Sydney Stadium is built in Parramatta, with the first of them being against Newcastle Jets in Round 5 at Spotless Stadium.

The first Sydney Derby will be played at the SCG in Round 2 on Saturday 27 October before the Wanderers host the second and third derbies of the season at Stadium Australia.

All eyes will be on Stadium Australia on Saturday 15 December when the Round 8 Western Sydney Wanderers v Sydney FC Derby is staged in the countdown to Christmas.

This will be the 20th Sydney Derby in history, to be known as Sydney Derby XX.

The Wanderers will host a third Sydney Derby at Stadium Australia in Round 25 on Saturday 13 April – setting the scene for what is sure to be an exciting run to the A-league Finals.

The first week of January will be a busy period for Wanderers players and spectators alike, with three major games back to back in the school holidays marking the start of the A-League’s Summer of Football period.

The traditional New Year’s Day match (Tuesday 1 January) between Wanderers and Melbourne City will be followed in quick succession by Wanderers v Melbourne Victory (Saturday 5 January) and Wanderers v Wellington Phoenix (Tuesday 8 January).

Sydney FC will play seven home games at boutique UOW Jubilee Stadium as the Club splits its home games between Kogarah and the SCG while the SFS is rebuilt.

The Hyundai A-League 2019 Finals Series will begin on the weekend of 3-5 May with the Hyundai A-League 2019 Grand Final scheduled for the weekend of 18-19 May.
