ALL eyes in rugby league will zero in on a spectacular Easter weekend of NRL action with the Wests Tigers today confirming that the club’s Easter Monday home game against the Parramatta Eels will be played at Stadium Australia in 2021.

The traditional Easter Monday clash was originally scheduled to be played at Bankwest Stadium. However, after working closely with the two Stadiums and NRL biosecurity experts, Wests Tigers and Parramatta have agreed for the fixture to shift venues to allow for as many as 15,000 more rugby league members and supporters to attend.

The annual grudge match between the western Sydney rivals has consistently drawn a crowd of more than 30,000.

The #EasterFootyFest weekend will kick off with arch rivals the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and South Sydney Rabbitohs going head-to-head on Good Friday, followed by the western Sydney derby between the Wests Tigers and Parramatta Eels on Easter Monday.

The back-to-back blockbusters will coincide with the Sydney Royal Easter Show, allowing fans to get behind their team and enjoy an awesome day (or weekend!) at the footy and Show, with show bags and goodies welcome inside the Stadium.

Wests Tigers have today confirmed that the club’s Easter Monday home game against the Parramatta Eels will be played at Stadium Australia in 2021.

The annual fixture, which sees Wests Tigers face off against their Sydney rivals, was originally scheduled to be played at Bankwest Stadium in Round 4.

However, after working closely with VenuesLive — the operator of Bankwest Stadium and Stadium Australia — as well as NRL biosecurity experts, Wests Tigers and Parramatta have agreed for the fixture to instead be played at the former Olympic venue.

Stadium Australia hosted the first Easter Monday game between the two sides back in 2014.

The shift in venue will allow for a much higher number of Wests Tigers Members and fans to attend the game having missed out on the match taking place in 2020.

Significantly more rugby league fans are now expected to be able to attend the match following the decision to switch venues.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said the venue change was a huge win for the club’s Members and fans following the effects of capacity restrictions in 2020.

“As a club, we’re really looking forward to hosting our traditional Easter Monday clash against Parramatta and are delighted that we’ll be able to welcome more Members and fans to the game as a result of this move to Stadium Australia,” Pascoe said.

“Our Members showed a tremendous support for the club throughout what was a tumultuous 2020 for all involved in rugby league, and we’re very pleased that the NRL, VenuesLive and Parramatta have facilitated this change.”

Tickets for the Easter Monday match will go on sale in the near future with Wests Tigers Members set to receive priority purchase as a Wests Tigers home game.

Wests Tigers Members who have Bankwest Stadium access as part of their 2021 Membership will be afforded access to the game, with further information around the ticket redemption process to come closer to the date.
