Spartan Race Invades ANZ Stadium

  • 5000 competitors taking part
  • $32,000 prize money on offer
  • Australia’s first ever stadium obstacle race
  • Thousands of supporters and spectators attending

OVER 5000 of Sydney’s toughest competitors will storm through the stands of Stadium Australia this Sunday 15 February, for Australia’s first ever Stadium obstacle race.

A Stadium not shy of setting and smashing records, the Spartan Race Stadium Australia Sprint will also be the biggest stadium obstacle race – in terms of scale and distance – ever put on anywhere in the world.

What can racers expect from this mammoth event? The 6km+ course includes 33 obstacles – many never seen before in an obstacle race. Racers will have to negotiate obstacles like cargo net climbs, rope traverses, sandbag carries, spear throws, slippery walls and monkey bars. Oh, and let’s not forget the 7000 steps.

The $32,000 prize purse has attracted top athletes from all over the globe including the #1 and #2 in the world, Ryan Atkins (Canada) and Jonathon Albon (UK) who between them took out all the top events last year including the Spartan World Champs and the Obstacle Racing World Champs.

The event is expected to attract thousands of supporters and spectators who will be able to follow racers around the stadium via a viewing track, or watch from the terraces within the Spartan Festival Area which includes various sponsor run challenges and competitions, food vendors, music, a mini fitness expo and the Spartan Kid’s Zone with inflatable obstacle course and bouncy castle.
