Confirmation of Australia v Greece at Stadium Australia on 4 June (8pm kickoff) sets up a mighty week of sporting blockbusters at the Olympic stadium, with the football friendly to follow the opening game of the State of Origin rugby league series between NSW and Queensland on Wednesday 1 June.

While the Socceroos will enjoy huge home nation support as they prepare for the next stage of World Cup qualifying matches, there is sure to be plenty of sky blue and white in the stadium as Greece will have the backing of a large and passionate Greek Australian community. Recent estimates suggest there are 195,000 Greek Australians living in Sydney.
Fans of the Galanolefki (Sky Blue & White) will have the option of sitting in the Greece Active Supporters’ Area at the southern end of Stadium Australia – the same end that hosted Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur fans when they visited the Stadium last winter.
The Socceroos’ Active Supporters’ Area will be located, as per tradition at home games, in the northern stands.
Tickets to Australia v Greece at Stadium Australia go on sale to the Football Family today (Tuesday 23 February), with General Public tickets on sale from 11am Thursday 25 February. Tickets start from $40 and $80 for a family.
Sydney’s sporting #WeekOfBlockbusters at Stadium Australia will coincide with Vivid Sydney, the annual festival of Light, Music & Ideas, and will attract thousands of visitors to the city.
The Socceroos v Greece game adds to a 2016 Stadium Australia Event Calendar with a distinct international flavor. It follows the Liverpool Legends game earlier in the year and with Bledisloe Cup (Saturday 20 August) and the College Football Sydney Cup clash between the University of California Golden Bears v University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (Saturday 27 August) to come later in the season.
The NSW Blues will host two State of Origin games at their home ground Stadium Australia this season – with Origin III scheduled for Wednesday 13 July.
