Runners To Stream Through Stadium Australia For Run NSW Anniversary 5K On 31 July

Ever wanted to run in the footsteps of Golden Girl Cathy Freeman? To feel the energy of Sydney’s Olympic Stadium and experience the same path as the athletes at the 2000 Olympic Games?

On Saturday 31 July, Stadium Australia is proud to partner with Athletics NSW and Sydney Olympic Park in hosting the Anniversary 5K Fun Run.

This very special parkrun-distance course will feature a route through the Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre – where the track & field athletes warmed up before their Olympic events – the NSW Rugby League Centre of Excellence access tunnel – where the NSW Blues walk from their warm-up field/change rooms on to the field of play before each State of Origin home game – and of course, the field of play of Stadium Australia itself.

More information on the event, including registration details, are available here

A detailed map of the course will be provided shortly.

After the run, you will be able to continue your Olympic experience with the official Olympic Live site – Olympics Live presented by Westpac – right near the finish line at Cathy Freeman Park.

The Live Site will feature the Olympics broadcast on the big screen, kids’ activities throughout the day, interactive virtual sports experiences in the “Have-A-Go” dome, Demi Demo performances from champion skaters, BMXers, parkourists and dancers, and much more.

The event marks a small return to athletics for Sydney’s Olympic Stadium and coincides with the beginning of the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Stadium Australia remains as a beacon within Australia’s Olympic Community and looks forward to welcoming keen runners, walkers, rollers and more for this unique event.
