Parramatta Eels to Play 11 Home Matches at ANZ Stadium in Season 2017

  • Parramatta Eels to play 11 home matches at Stadium Australia in 2017;
  • Eels will join Bulldogs and Rabbitohs in playing majority of their home matches at Stadium Australia in 2017. Tigers (4) and Dragons (2) will also play home matches at the Stadium;
  • The 2017 NRL draw will be announced later this year;
  • Stadium Australia Members will benefit from the additional NRL content and will be entitled to every game as part of their 2017 Membership.

THE Parramatta Eels have announced that they will play 11 home matches at Stadium Australia in season 2017, with Pirtek Stadium soon to be demolished to make way for the new 30,000-seat Western Sydney Stadium.

The Eels confirmed Sunday to their Members that they will play most of their home games at Stadium Australia in seasons 2017-18 while their home venue is rebuilt.

The Eels’ schedule will be contained in the 2017 NRL draw, which will be announced later this year. The Eels will play one home game in Darwin.

The Eels have previously played two home matches at Sydney Olympic Park each season and are one of five Sydney NRL clubs that call Stadium Australia home.

The Eels will join the Bulldogs and the Rabbitohs in playing the majority of their home matches at Stadium Australia in season 2017, while the Tigers (4 matches) and the Dragons (2 matches) are also committed to building their Membership and corporate client bases with home games at the State’s biggest venue.

The additional rugby league content – with as many as 36 NRL games to be played at Stadium Australia – will be a 2017 season bonus for Stadium Australia Members, Corporate Clients, and fans of rival clubs that call the Olympic venue home.

The early-season highlight for Eels supporters will clearly be their annual Easter Monday blockbuster against arch-rivals the Wests Tigers on 17 April.

A crowd of 36,112 packed in to Stadium Australia in the recently completed 2016 season to watch the Eels reign 8-0 in an absolute arm wrestle. In 2014, an awesome 50,668 fans turned out for the Easter Monday game hosted by the Eels.

The Parra Eels club and Stadium Australia are committed to providing a great event-day experience for their fans, with a number of transport initiatives ready to be rolled out for the 2017 move to Sydney Olympic Park.

Based on feedback from Parramatta club Members and insights from the Eels Member Council, seating at Stadium Australia will be reallocated to more closely replicate the seating map at the current Pirtek Stadium.

Keep an eye out for these individual NRL match-ups early in 2017 – Jarryd Hayne up against his old club the Parra Eels for the first time; and the Rabbitohs’ new signing Robbie Farah up against his former club Wests Tigers.

Supporters of all five Stadium Australia home clubs will be entitled to reciprocal Club Membership entry rights to a number of games featuring their team against rival Stadium home clubs. (*Individual clubs will confirm what games will feature reciprocal Membership rights.)

And, of course, Stadium Australia Members will be entitled to every NRL game played at the Stadium as part of their 2017 Membership.
