THE 80,000-plus fans who attend Holden State of Origin II will witness a level of technology never seen before in Australia thank to partnerships between the NRL, Stadium Australia and Techfront – a leader in Arena Management Technology.
As a first step, the latest in LED-technology worth $3 million will be in place around the perimeter of the field and throughout Stadium Australia for Origin, ensuring fans attending the match won’t miss any access to the latest statistics, celebrations and social media.
Purpose-built software is just the start of the partnership between the NRL and Techfront, with plans to increase signage, infrastructure and technology benefits across grounds.
There are plans for major technological innovations at Stadium Australia events – including some of the most exciting fan engagement ever seen in this part of the world.
NRL Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Abdo said the partnership with Techfront was another step towards the game delivering a world-class experience for fans attending matches.
“We have one of the most exciting sporting competitions in the world and over the next few years, fans will have access to the very latest in stadia and technology,” Mr Abdo said.
“Experiences don’t get much bigger than the Holden State of Origin series and I’m sure that every fan attending will appreciate keeping up to date with every moment, no matter where they are.”
Former cricketer and CEO of Techfront Neil Maxwell said he was pleased to be partnering with the NRL to improve in-stadium experiences for the game and for fans.
“In keeping with the NRL’s long-term view towards enhancing technology, we want to make sure that fans and ultimately, NRL clubs benefit from the opportunities that a single digital signage solution offers,” Mr Maxwell said.
Techfront aims to be a single source supplier of stadium technology and infrastructure across the NRL and other sporting codes.
The company has an extensive track record in fitting out state-of-the-art technology in major sporting arenas and stadia throughout Australia and across the world, with installations in more than 100 stadia globally.
Blatchys Blues light up Origin
Adding to the technology advances at Holden State of Origin II, the NSW Blues’ 12,000-strong active supporter group Blatchys Blues will be supercharged with Next Generation wig technology set to revolutionise the fan experience and create an amazing atmosphere.
Major sponsor and official home of the NSW VB Blues, The Star Sydney, is behind the new Blatchys Blues SMARTWiG.
Australia’s largest and most passionate supporter group Blatchys Blues is recognised for its iconic blue wig.
The Star has given the humble wig a supercharged upgrade with an LED antenna to light up when the lights go down and an in-built headphone connecting wearers to SMARTWiG radio.
The radio will deliver wearers with six hours of customised radio programming including Triple M’s expert commentary and live call of the on-field action during the game.
Before kick-off Blues legends Nathan Hindmarsh and Bryan Fletcher will talk to past NSW legends and take listeners into the NSW sheds to hear from NSW VB Blues head coach Laurie Daley.
