Happy New Year! Why 2018 Will Be a Cracker for Sport & Entertainment at Sydney’s Home of Major Events

SYDNEY is in for a sport and entertainment bonanza in 2018, with a host of spectacular major events ready to roll at Stadium Australia.

After a gate-twirling 57 events drew 1.7 million visitors to the Stadium last year, the stage is set for an unforgettable year of sporting heroics and concert magic in 2018.

There is no rest in the world of sport, and the 2018 event year has already begun with the Western Sydney Wanderers recording an impressive 2-1 victory over Melbourne City in a New Year’s Day classic at Stadium Australia.

Legendary rockers Foo Fighters are returning to Stadium Australia on Saturday 27 January with their Concrete & Gold World Tour. The 11-time Grammy-winning band will be joined by American alt-rockers Weezer and Sydney favourites The Preatures for an unforgettable concert experience. Foo Fighters tickets here

British rugby league giants Wigan Warriors and Hull FC will play the first-ever Super League game outside of the UK when they line up at WIN Stadium, Wollongong, on Saturday 10 February. Tickets here

The NRL double-header will coincide with opening weekend of the 2018 Sydney Royal Easter Show – ensuring a massive crowd at Sydney Olympic Park and a major event atmosphere.

That will roll in to the traditional Easter FootyFest matches featuring Rabbitohs v Bulldogs on Good Friday 30 March and Tigers v Eels Easter Monday 2 April.

And then there’s this . . . Sydney will host the crucial State of Origin II match on Sunday 24 June – a stand-alone weekend for one of the biggest footy games of the year! Sydney Olympic Park will become a sea of blue from early afternoon with a massive pre-Origin leading in to the 7.45pm Sunday kick-off at the Blues’ spiritual home. State of Origin tickets here

The opening Bledisloe Cup Test of 2018 will be played at Stadium Australia in August, with the Wallabies determined to match strides with the All Blacks.

Following Bledisloe Cup, we roll in to footy finals in September and the NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final on Sunday 30 September.

And what better way to cap off a year of stellar concerts than with the return of pop goddess Taylor Swift to Stadium Australia in November.

The ten-time Grammy award winner is bringing her reputation Stadium Tour to the scene of her phenomenal 2015 show in what is sure to be one of the highlights of 2018. Tickets to Taylor Swift here

Of course, Stadium Australia Members will be entitled to premium seating at all sporting events in 2018, and will have an exclusive pre-purchase window to all other events.

The Members’ experience for sporting events includes access to Members’ facilities including bars and lounges. Members are also spoilt for choice with a mouth-watering array of restaurants and cafes offering fine dining to footy fare.
