GET ready Sydney – the FINAL release of public tickets for the upcoming football blockbuster between Chelsea FC and Sydney FC go on sale at 10am Friday 22 May.

Sports fans wishing to witness the English Premier League Champions’ first appearance in Australia in 41 years are encouraged to move quickly, with the final ticket allocation expected to be exhausted within hours.

Tickets for the Chelsea FC v Sydney FC football classic start from just $49 for adults and $29 for children.

With interstate and international ticket returns funnelling back into the public ticket system, there are a limited number of public tickets available across all seating categories.

Chelsea, who have recently secured their fourth EPL title, have vowed to bring their best available squad to Sydney for the clash with A-League Grand Finalists Sydney FC at Stadium Australia on Tuesday 2 June.

Chelsea boast one of the strongest line-ups in world football, including EPL Player of the Year Eden Hazard, captain John Terry and superstars Cesc Fabregas, Oscar, Diego Costa, Petr Cech and Didier Drogba. Their manager is the legendary Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea captain Terry said his players were excited to be making the post-season trip to Sydney and indicated the fiercely-determined Mourinho would not let them take Sydney FC easy on the night.

“As soon as the trip to Sydney was mentioned, the lads were very excited.  We get to see our fans and they can see us. Hopefully we can put on a really good show for them against Sydney FC,” he said.

Manager Mourinho added: “We are very pleased to come to Sydney at the end of our season. This is the first time in 41 years that Chelsea will come to Australia, so hopefully the football fans will come out and watch us play.”

Chelsea FC, who have 509 million fans around the world and an estimated 3 million here in Australia, are negotiating to bring the time-honoured English Premier League Trophy to Sydney so they can hoist it in front of their Aussie fans at Stadium Australia.

A dedicated Chelsea supporters’ zone has been expanded three times to fit more than 16,000 Chelsea fans into the southern stands of Stadium Australia which have been renamed #TheShedEnd – replicating the game-day experience at the southern end of Chelsea’s famous home ground in London, Stamford Bridge.

Stadium Australia will be a sea of blue on the night, with Sydney FC’s The Cove setting up in the northern stands.

Sky Blues coach Graham Arnold says his team is determined to finish the season by proving highly competitive against the English Premier League Champions.

“It’s a privilege for our squad to be playing the English Premier League Champions and to be representing the A-League on the world stage,” Arnold said.

The Chelsea FC blockbuster is the jewel in the crown of a spectacular week of sport in Sydney.

The three majors will be preceded by two outstanding regular-season games in the NRL and Super Rugby – reigning NRL premiers South Sydney v Parramatta Eels on Friday 22 May; and the Super Rugby Final rematch between the NSW Waratahs and NZ Crusaders on Saturday 23 May.

More than 225,000 fans are expected through the gates of Stadium Australia for the #WeekOfBlockbusters alone, and 280,000 for the five-game super stretch of elite sport.
