Stadium Australia will join the NRL Community in celebrating Indigenous Round and Mother’s Day this weekend with two Round 10 fixtures to be played in Sydney Olympic Park.

The action kicks off on Friday night with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs taking on old rivals the Parramatta Eels before the South Sydney Rabbitohs take on table-toppers the St George Illawarra Dragons on Sunday afternoon.

Both games will pay tribute to Elders past and present with Welcome to Country ceremonies, pre-match cultural performances and gift exchanges between the two Captains prior to kick-off.

Fans will be able to get in on the Indigenous Round celebrations with a number of pre-game activations on the Stadium Australia concourse such as Indigenous banner making stations, Indigenous air brush painting, didgeridoo players and more.

Indigenous Round will see the NRL use its extensive reach to highlight significant social issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people – including promoting respectful and positive behaviours across communities.

For just the second time in NRL Telstra Premiership history, every player and match official will wear Indigenous inspired jerseys.

Rabbitohs Indigenous leader Greg Inglis knows the significance of this week on the NRL calendar, saying: “I am representing not just South Sydney but my heritage as well.

“Each and every week you go out and represent your background, your family, your heritage and where you are from. This week is important because we are acknowledging the Indigenous players in our game.

“As an Indigenous player in this game, the support that we get is remarkable and the support from the NRL and the game itself has been tremendous.”

Sunday’s Rabbitohs v Dragons cracker will also double as a tribute to mum’s everywhere with Mother’s Day sharing in the celebrations.

To celebrate, the Rabbitohs have partnered with Share With Oscar to deliver a Mother’s Day gift like no other that inclues four tickets to the game, a VIP parking spot, flowers and a special gift bag. Head here for all the details.
