THERE’S nothing better than back-to-back footy, and this weekend will see the Bulldogs v Dragons and Rabbitohs v Knights NRL blockbusters hosted at Stadium Australia in a massive weekend of sport – with lots of pre-game entertainment to boot.
Friday 31 May will see the resurgent Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs tackle the St George Illawarra Dragons. Coming from a 24-14 win against the Brisbane Broncos last week will only mean confidence for the Dogs, while the Red V will be hungry to prove they can come back from a record loss at Kogarah against the Panthers.
Kick-off will be at 7.45pm, but join us from gates open at 5.45pm for lots of entertainment like Bulldogs highlights on the big screen, special offers and the comedy stylings of Rob Shehadie and Tahir.
Clash two on Saturday 1 June will welcome home the table-topping South Sydney Rabbitohs as they take on supercoach Wayne Bennett’s Newcastle Knights.
Pre-game will feature the Bunnies Backyard BBQ at Stadium Australia’s state-of-the-art external warm up facility located on the western side of the arena. There will be giveaways, competitions, cooking demonstrations, live music, footy clinics and kids activities from 2pm. You can meet players and Masterchef contestant Kevin Perry too.
All three grades will be played at Stadium Australia on Saturday, starting with the Rabbitohs’ famous feeder club the North Sydney Bears up against fellow NSW Cup leaders Cronulla-Sutherland from 3.10pm.
Kickoff to the Rabbitohs v Knights NRL game is 7.30pm.
Souths are enjoying their best start to a season since 1971 – the year they last won a premiership – with superstar fullback Greg Inglis and flying winger Nathan Merritt leading tryscorers with 11 apiece. The Rabbitohs will be desperate to bounce back after a surprise upset by Cronulla in their Round 11 Monday night clash.
