AUSSIE stunt woman Rhianna Buchanan has been named as host and ambassador of Monster Jam – Expect the Unexpected when it smashes into Stadium Australia on Saturday 22 October . . . but she could well be driving one of the beasts in 2017.
The thrill-seeking Buchanan is the first Australian to be invited to train at the exclusive Monster Jam Univeristy in America and is hopeful of being behind the wheel of her own Monster truck in the not-to-distant future.
“I am a bit of a perfectionist so I would like to do some more training before I feel that I am at a level where I can try and be competitive,” said Buchanan.
“It will definitely be by this time next year but hopefully maybe if there’s any possibilities that come up in between now and the Australian tour next year, I’d love a chance to get in and drive.”
For now, Buchanan will have to settle for host of the most intense family entertainment experience on the planet, and with up to five brand new trucks and drivers and even more super-charged moto-tainment this is a show not to be missed.
General public tickets for the world’s premier of Monster Jam – Expect the Unexpected are on sale now, with Sydney fans able to witness the jaw-dropping displays of punishing stunts on Saturday 22 October.
The show will feature four unique Monster Jam driver competitions – Monster Jam Wheelies, Racing, Donuts and the coveted Freestyle competitions, with the Freestyle Motocross and Quad Wars also set to return. Plus, fans can get up close to their favourite trucks and meet the superstar drivers at the pre-event Party in the Pits kicking off from 2pm.
The 2016 lineup includes a number of fan favourites, with ‘Grave Digger’, ‘Monster Mutt Dalmatian’ and ‘Max-D’ back to tear up the track, alongside new additions ‘Alien Invasion’, ‘Pirates Curse’ and the yellow ‘El Toro Loco’.
Stadium Australia will transform in to a Monster Jam playground for the event – dumped with 7500 tonnes of dirt to create a centre stage of spectacular jumps and obstacles.
Standing nearly four metres tall and four metres wide, Monster Jam trucks are custom-designed machines that weigh around 5,500kgs.
Built for short, high powered bursts of speed, the powerful Monster Jam beasts perform breathtaking stunts and can accelerate from 0-100kph in under 3 seconds.
They literally fly – covering up to 50m in a single leap (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 12m skywards.
