IT has become an Easter tradition in Sydney to combine a trip to the Royal Easter Show with a footy blockbuster at Stadium Australia – or just the footy at Easter!
And fans will this year be given every opportunity to join the fun at Sydney Olympic Park, with return travel on public transport included in tickets to both NRL games.
Direct trains between Central and Olympic Park will run every 8 minutes from 9am until midnight (stopping at Redfern and Strathfield) for both the Good Friday Bulldogs v Rabbitohs clash and Easter Monday Eels v Wests Tigers battle. Rail shuttle services to and from the west will also operate on a 30 minute frequency between Blacktown and Sydney Olympic Park, and on a 10 minute frequency between Penrith / Schofields and Sydney Olympic Park.
The Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Bus services will also be running on all routes across metropolitan Sydney on both days.
Better still, everyone who is attending either of the NRL blockbusters at Stadium Australia will be entitled to return travel at no additional cost.
An estimated 125,000 people will be in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct on Good Friday and 145,000 plus on Easter Monday – so footy fans are encouraged to leave the car at home and take advantage of the free and direct public transport.
Given Sydney Olympic Park will be busy with the Royal Easter Show, footy fans should only drive to the precinct if they have pre-booked parking.
Stadium Australia Managing Director Daryl Kerry said Sydney Olympic Park is the place to be this Easter and encouraged Members and fans to make use of the additional direct trains and Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses.
“There will be big crowds right across Easter weekend, with the Sydney Royal Easter Show and two fantastic NRL games featuring four Sydney clubs with big fan bases. The best advice is to give yourself plenty of time and arrive early so that you can relax with family and friends and make the most of a special day,” Mr Kerry said.
With the extra public transport services scheduled over the Easter weekend, Stadium Australia footy fans will be spoilt for transport choice to get to their games, regardless of whether they catch the train or the bus.
Importantly, footy fans can bring their show bags to the big games and make the most of their Easter weekend!
