PASSIONATE Liverpool FC fans across Sydney and Australia are counting the days until the Reds hit Stadium Australia on Wednesday 24 May.
Fresh from their 2016/17 English Premier League season (which concludes on Monday morning AEST) Liverpool will step onto the hallowed turf at Stadium Australia to face 2016/17 Hyundai A-League champions Sydney FC in front of a passionate crowd.
The game will double as a special occasion for Reds fans as the club kicks off its year-long 125th anniversary celebrations.

AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL ICON AND LIVERPOOL LEGEND CRAIG JOHNSTON HITS SYDNEY
Craig Johnston, one of the first Australian’s to make a big stamp in English football, is in Sydney to promote the #RedsinSydney game.
Johnston was a key player in Liverpool’s famous squad of the 1980’s – widely regarded as one of the most successful club sides England has ever produced.
In his eight years with the club Johnston played 271 games, scoring 40 goals including the second and decisive goal in their 1986 FA Cup final victory over fierce rivals Everton.
Johnston said: “Australians are a very savvy football audience, they are very loyal, passionate and knowledgeable about Liverpool FC. The club feels that sincerity, which is why they are coming to Sydney and I can’t wait to see all the fans at the game.”
#REDSINSYDNEY 125th ANNIVERSARY AND EVENT DETAILS
Liverpool’s visit to Sydney will kick off a year of festivities as the club celebrates the 125th anniversary since their inception. With a host of pre-game activities planned, including on-field displays, exclusive video screen content and of course the traditional singing of You’ll Never Walk Alone, this is an event not to be missed by all lovers of sport.
To help mark the occasion some of Liverpool’s greatest ever players, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger and Steve McManaman, will join Jurgen Klopp’s men on the pitch as they take on Sydney FC.
Gates open at 6pm on the night and fans are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the spectacle.

LIVERPOOL ONE WIN AWAY FROM CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
The mighty Reds are just three points away from confirming their place in the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League competition.
All Liverpool need do is beat the already relegated Middlesborough at Anfield on Sunday (12am Monday AEST).
