CONFIRMED! BARCA ACTIVE FANS TO FILL THE NORTHERN STANDS OF ACCOR STADIUM

FC Barcelona’s most passionate supporters will have a dedicated fans zone in the northern stands of Accor Stadium when the famous Catalan club takes on the A-Leagues All Stars on Wednesday 25 May.
The Barca Active Area will hold more than 5000 fans with the expectation the club’s iconic blue and garnet colours will spread throughout the Stadium.
General Public tickets for the highly anticipated #BarcaInSydney match go on sale at 11am Wednesday 13 April.
Fan are encouraged to get in early to secure their seats and avoid disappointment. It will be the first time in history that FC Barcelona have played a match anywhere in Australia.
“There is clearly huge interest in the Barca in Sydney match and the fans have already told us to expect a sea of blau and grana (blue and deep red or garnet),” said VenuesLive Business Development Manager Jordan Kerry.
“The northern stands of Accor Stadium will feature a dedicated Barca Active Area and fans will be able to buy into this seating area when General Public tickets go on sale 11am Wednesday.
“The crowd is already building nicely toward a full house.”
Known for their iconic attacking, tiki-taka style of football, FC Barcelona have become a resurgent force this season under manager and club legend Xavi.
Barca have not suffered defeat in La Liga since 4 December, 2021 – a run of 15 games unbeaten that sees the club second on the ladder. Barca recently dispatched of title rivals Real Madrid 4-0 in a memorable victory.
Under Xavi, and led by their young stars Pedri, Gavi and Ansu Fati, the club is back to playing “the Barca way” and is set to light up Sydney and Accor Stadium this May.
Backed by Destination NSW and Venues NSW on behalf of the NSW Government, FC Barcelona’s one-night-only football blockbuster will kick off an amazing month of events in Sydney. Barca In Sydney will be staged 48 hours before the Vivid Sydney festival begins.
The match will also be an entree to the A-League Men’s Grand Final on the weekend of 28-29 May.
FC Barcelona Vice-President Marketing Area, Juli Guiu, said his club was committed to leaving lasting memories in Sydney of Barca’s first visit Down Under.
"Being able to play this match will give us the opportunity to bring the club and its values closer to our fans and will also give us the opportunity for new audiences to get to know FC Barcelona and all that it represents,” he said.
“This will be the first time the team visits this country, where Barça are generating great interest.”
Barca will line up against an A-Leagues All Stars representative team at the 80,000-seat Accor Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park.
The Stadium hosted the Final of the Men’s Football at the Sydney 2000 Games, featuring Cameroon and Spain, and has previously hosted many of the biggest clubs in the world of football, including Manchester United (2013), Juventus (2014), Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea FC (2015), and Liverpool (2017).
The Stadium also regularly hosts Australian national men’s team the Socceroos in FIFA World Cup and AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. It hosted key matches including the Final of the AFC Asian Cup in 2015 and next year will host key matches including the Final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
The northern stands are at the river end of Accor Stadium and have featured some of the world’s most passionate fans groups, including the Blatchys Blues in State of Origin rugby league.
