THE NSW Blues will look to further develop a new generation of stars in Holden State of Origin Game 3 after going so close to pulling off a famous win over Queensland in Brisbane.

Blues fans are being urged to stand and be counted at Origin III as an emerging NSW squad looks to turn the tide against the Maroons.

Trailing 20-16 in the 71st minute of Origin II, young Blues hero Tyson Frizell looked to have scored the try that would have given NSW the lead and the impetus to kick-on and secure a series-levelling win. But luck wasn’t on the Blues’ side.

Holden State of Origin III at Stadium Australia on Wednesday 13 July looms as an emotional farewell for inspirational skipper Paul Gallen and possibly other senior players as an exciting new breed – headed by Frizell, Jack Bird, Josh Jackson and David Klemmer – takes the Blues into a new era.

Gallen, 34, captained the Blues to a memorable Origin series win at Stadium Australia in 2014 and has 22 Origin caps for NSW after making his debut in 2006.

Despite Queensland’s dominance since 2006, the Blues boast a 4-3 advantage over the Maroons at Stadium Australia over the past five years. It is a telling statistic given Queensland’s overall dominance – and it proves that the passion and support shown by loyal NSW Blues fans are a great leveler.

While Queensland fans will get to see Maroons captain Cameron Smith raise the State of Origin shield after their series victory, the vast majority of the crowd on Wednesday 13 July  will be cheering for the Blues, meaning the Maroons will again be entering hostile territory.

Tickets to Origin III start from just $50 and all tickets will include public transport to Sydney Olympic Park.

Origin celebrations will kick off from 4pm on Wednesday 13 July outside Stadium Australia.

Standby for further details on the giant party that will mark the Origin series finale.
