IT’S a tale of two cities this Saturday when the Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC take the field at Stadium Australia for the historic Sydney Derby double-header.
Both the W-League and A-League Sydney Derbies will renew their fierce cross-city rivalry in the first-ever #DoubleDerby that is sure to have Sydney divided once again.
The monster Derby Day looks like this:
- 4:30pm – Gates Open
- 5pm – W-League kick-off
- 7:50pm – A-League kick-off

For the men, Saturday’s second Sydney Derby of the season is the seventeenth overall and if Saturday is anything like the first, it’s sure to be an entertaining one.
In Round 3 the spoils were shared in a pulsating 2-2 draw, Sydney FC clawing their way back via goals from Bobô and Josh Brillante after Oriol Riera and Brendan Hamill had given the Wanderers a two-goal lead.
Few Wanderers fans will forget Brendon Santalab’s winner in the last Sydney Derby at Stadium Australia with the 1-0 result ending Sydney FC’s incredible unbeaten run in the A-League last season.
In the Westfield W-League, it’s the first Sydney Derby of the season with both sides desperate for the three points and bragging rights over their rival.
The opening game of the Double Derby will also mark the first time the stars of the W-League have graced the pitch at Stadium Australia.

“I really enjoyed the first game last year, there were 65,000 people and it was unbelievable.
“I played many derbies in Ukraine, in Serbia. For me, Red Star v Partizan [the Eternal Derby] is the biggest derby I ever played in, but this one is similar.”
Western Sydney Wanderers’ Brendon Santalab
“It’s quite obvious [which team I enjoy beating the most]. It’s Sydney FC and I’ve been lucky enough to do that on two occasions in my career at the Wanderers.
“I hope that can happen again this season.”
EVENT & TRANSPORT
All tickets to the Double Derby at Stadium Australia include entry and return travel on Sydney Trains, Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses and regular Sydney Buses (STA) services, Sydney Ferries and Light Rail services.
With a large crowd expected, fans should leave the car at home and take advantage of the additional and direct public transport services available for the event.
Fans are strongly encouraged to arrive early on the day and enjoy all the atmosphere in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct. It’s important fans leave additional time for the security screening process when entering the Stadium.

Public safety is our No.1 priority at Stadium Australia.
The Stadium works closely with NSW Police and other authorities to identify risks at all events.
A high NSW Police and Security presence will be in place for the Sydney Derby, both inside the Stadium and throughout the Sydney Olympic Park precinct before, during and after the event.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early and leave additional time for the security screening process when entering the Stadium. This process will include mandatory bag searches and personal checks.
Only small bags (no larger than 30cm x 40cm) are permitted into Stadium Australia for events, and all bags will be checked by security. Fans should arrive without bags if possible.
